Description
Done in the vain of “outlook”, “keep” was an attempt to get back into compositional traditional (or for that matter, digital) art. Over the past 3 days I’ve grinding on this, not including the few hours I spent trying to map the picture out in sketchbook pro.
Done almost completely using a .5mm mechanical pencil and blending stubs with only minor 6b and ebony touch ups as usual leveling can never get the same feel the real picture has, however, I think I gave it a good shot.
This picture was edited from the WIP version (in my scraps) using the fantastic help from you guys who got to it and my life-drawing teacher. Additions include darkening around the soldier, adding more gate debris, touching up on the dead guy on the right, adding more atmosphere and other such minor touch-ups
If I could change anything, it would probably be everything, but oh well, I learned allot and it was nice getting back into graphite… nothing beats grinding lead onto Bristol board to really etch out a shadow.
Its kinda saddening knowing that “outlook” has been my personal favorite deviation (and hence, my featured) for more than… 2 years? And I don’t know if this picture will change that.
Any compositional critique while still helpful in all honestly won’t be enacted on – but don’t be hindered if you need to say something.
Its taken me a long time to get the base group of people that I have watching me, but trust me, your constant encouragement and critique go well beyond the “OMG FAV” that other people are content with, and for that, I am thankful!
All edits will be noted, but i do plan to manipulate it a bit with photoshop after class!
***EDIT (keep 1.5)***
played around in photoshop and added a boarder as well as re-curved it. after a brief run with the clone tool, im starting to get crazy thoughts... like removing the spear soldier and his victim all together, but i don't know if the paper could hold up to it or if i would get a clean enough erasure.
***EDIT (Print Uploaded)***
for what its worth its not a print! might as well use my account!
